How to set curd using a clay curd setter

  • By Dhinoj Dings

Curd is a wholesome food that yields multiple health benefits- from better digestion to stronger immunity and more. And it makes some dishes even tastier. So, you have no reason not to make some at home!

Making curd at home is easy. But for the healthiest and tastiest variant, use a clay mud setter. Here, we give you the step-by-step instructions to make curd.

What you need to make curd

Curd setter: Use a clean clay curd setter. The unglazed variety is better since it helps retain more nutrients in the curd.

Milk: You can use pasteurized milk for making curd.

Starter curd: You would need some starter curd to prepare fresh curd. It’s a small amount of curd that’s kept aside for the purpose. It should ideally be prepared the previous day,  or you could buy fresh curd from a store.

Steps to make curd

  1. Add the starter curd into the pasteurized milk.
  2. Churn the milk with a whisk until it froths at the top.
  3. Cover the curd setter with a lid and leave it closed for six to seven hours.
  4. After some six hours,  thick curd would be formed.
  5. Refrigerate the curd for another four hours and then start using it.
