Drinking water stored in an earthen/clay pot is a far better option when compared with plastic or steel jugs. Earlier, clay water pots were our indigenous refrigerators providing us with cool water. Clay with its alkaline properties helps in maintaining the pH levels of water, imparts a unique taste and cooling to the water. Interestingly, water stored in a clay pot can be used as a home remedy for gastronomic pain.

Benefits:

  • No contaminants or toxins are added, it’s 100% primary clay, the highest quality natural clay without contaminants.

  • Its porous nature keeps the water naturally cool all day without any refrigeration and is designed for everyday use.

  • Using earthen clay helps to balance the pH scale because of the alkaline nature and healing with the elements of the earth.

  • Get a natural taste of water.

How to Clean:

Wash the pot with a soft bristle brush or nonmetallic scrubbing pad. Do not use abrasive scouring powders because they will clog the pores and make the pot useless.

Salt or ash can be used as a non-toxic alternative to chemical cleaners.

Natural water Cooler:

The pot is made of natural terracotta clay and the clay is porous. So due to minor pores in the clay, the water inside the clay pot is cool due to the evaporation process. Due to this process, the heat of the water inside the pot is lost, which lowers the temperature of the water. This is how we get cool water from the earthen pot which is just at the right temperature during any season throughout the year.

The water stored inside the pot percolates into the pores and as a result, oozes out of the pot in the form of droplets. These droplets absorb the heat of the water stored and evaporate resulting in the cooling of water. While many times the Water accumulates at the bottom and it is a natural phenomenon.

Porosity Level of Pots:

The porosity level of each and every pot is different from each other. The pots with the same design, same shape, same size, same batch have different porosity levels. i.e. pots with a higher porosity level ooze higher amount of water compared to the ones with a lower porosity level. As porosity Level is totally natural and not in human hands, it can not be controlled. But the oozing of water signifies the pot to be non-colored.

The reasoning for white porous:

It's because the clay material that these pots are made from is porous and can actually breathe. It allows the natural salt and minerals from our water, to seep through to the outside causing a white powdery build-up on the outsides of the pot. This residue is not harmful and can easily be removed.
